‘Not a healthy democracy’ that calls Trump a winner for ‘firehose of falsehoods’
Following the first presidential debate, the discussion has largely focused on panic from the Democratic side over Joe Biden’s performance. But as Ruth Ben-Ghiat and former Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) point out, Trump did the public a disservice by lying the entire night. “This wasn’t a debate,” Ben-Ghiat tells Ali Velshi. Instead, she says that Trump “showed up to spew propaganda and turn this into a propaganda show” and spread “a firehose of falsehoods.” And while some people start calling for Biden to be replaced as the nominee, Sen. Jones cautions people to have some patience. “The presidency is much more than a single debate,” he says.
